Medbach is a district of the town of Höchstadt an der Aisch in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is on the north bank of the Aisch and the Erlenbach , which flows into the Aisch as a left tributary. This stream feeds a chain of ponds north of the village. There the Buchberg ( 313  m above sea level ) rises in a small wooded area . Approx. 1 km to the northwest is the Voggenköhl forest area .

history

The place name is derived from the water body name Medbach (now called Erlenbach), the meaning of which is said to be Süßbach . This settlement also originally belonged to the Etzelskirchen Hofverband and probably came to the Michelsberg Monastery with this in 1017 , although the place is not explicitly mentioned. As a feudal lord , the monastery gave fiefs to the ministerials of Aisch , according to a document from 1217. In 1348 the monastery was again in direct possession of the place.

At the end of the 18th century there were 22 properties in Medbach. The high court was exercised by the Bamberg center of Höchstadt . The Bamberg caste office in Höchstadt was in charge of the village and community . The landlords were the Kastenamt Höchstadt (1 Sölde ), the Kastenamt Gremsdorf of the Michelsberg Monastery (9 half yards, 7 Sölden, 1 mill) and the manor Neuhaus (3 Gütlein). There was also the shepherd's house and the forge, which were used communally.

As part of the community edict, Medbach was assigned to the Etzelskirchen tax district, formed in 1808 . In the same year the rural community Etzelskirchen was formed, to which the place belonged. 3 properties were subject to voluntary jurisdiction by the Neuhaus patrimonial court (until 1848).

On January 1, 1972, Medbach was incorporated into the town of Höchstadt an der Aisch as part of the regional reform .
