Gerardo Torrado Díez de Bonilla (born April 30, 1979 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican football player who also has Spanish citizenship.

At the age of 18, Torrado made his debut in the Mexican premier league for the UNAM Pumas . After becoming a regular there in the 1999/2000 season, the defensive midfielder tried his hand at Europe the following year. After stints at CD Tenerife and Polideportivo Ejido in the Spanish second division , he joined the Primera División for Sevilla FC . After he was still there regularly in 2002/03, he came in the following year only ten season games and then moved to Racing Santander . From 2005 he played again in his homeland for the CD Cruz Azul . There he had a made-to-measure debut when he contributed both goals to his team's 2-0 win on his debut against Monarcas Morelia . Eleven seasons later, he moved to Indy Eleven in the USL Championship in 2016 . Here he ended his active career at the end of 2017.
National team
Gerardo Torrado already wore the national jersey in the junior teams and in 1999 was the captain of the team that reached the quarter-finals of the U-20 World Cup. In the same year he made his debut for the senior team on June 9 in a friendly against Argentina, which ended 2-2. Just a month later, on July 10, he scored his first international goal in a game against Peru (3: 3) at the Copa America 1999 .
When the Mexicans won the Confederations Cup in 1999 , he was in the 20-man squad, but was only used in the semifinals against the USA over 58 minutes. Torrado can now look back on a thirteen-year national team career with 137 international matches. It was also part of Mexico's World Cup squad at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups , where it was used in almost all games. Only in the last group game against Portugal (1: 2) at the 2006 World Cup, he was not involved. At the 2010 World Cup he was the captain of the Mexican team, but retired as in 2006 in the round of 16 against Argentina . In 2011 he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup with Mexico by beating the USA 4-2 in the final . In 2013, the midfielder ended his national team career after 146 international matches in which he scored six goals.
