The Refresco Group (until May 2016: RefrescoGerber ) is a beverage manufacturer based in Rotterdam. The group of companies is the largest bottler of soft drinks and juices in Europe.

history

On November 12, 2013 the merger of the Dutch holding Refresco with the British-German GerberEmig Group initially resulted in RefrescoGerber BV, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Refresco received 72.5 percent and GerberEmig 27.5 percent of the new company. The company's CEO was Hans Roelofs from the Netherlands, previously CEO of Refresco. The European competition authority approved the takeover with the condition that the Emig plant in Waibstadt be sold. The work was sold to riha WeserGold Getränke .

RefrescoGerber has production facilities in the Benelux, Germany, France, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland and Finland. At the time of the merger, according to the company, the production capacity was 6.5 billion liters. In March 2015 the company was transformed into a public limited company (NV) listed on the Amsterdam trading center of the Euronext stock exchange . In the 2015 financial year, the company filled 6.096 billion liters of beverages.

In spring 2016, the Dutch contract bottler Dranken Industrie Sittard BV (DIS) with an annual turnover of around 90 million euros was taken over for a purchase price of 72 million euros. In May 2016, RefrescoGerber changed its name to Refresco Group. With effect from June 1, 2016, the PepsiCo plant in Hamburg was taken over and ten-year contract bottling of the PepsiCo brands Punica and Lipton was agreed. Refresco has long been a contract filler for PepsiCo in other countries. On June 20, 2016, the Refresco Group was included in the AMX index of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. In July 2016, Refresco expanded into the world's largest soft drink market by taking over the US bottler Whitlock Packaging for the equivalent of 117 million euros . Another takeover followed in January 2018 with the soft drinks division of the Canadian Cott Corporation.

In 2018 the Refresco Group was founded by a consortium consisting of PAI partners and British Columbia Investment Management Corp. accepted. As a result, Refresco was taken off the stock exchange and converted into a BV.

Refresco in Germany

Refresco Deutschland GmbH, based in Mönchengladbach - Herrath, generated sales of EUR 408.7 million in 2017. In addition to the factory in Herrath, there are also factories in Grünsfeld , Erftstadt and Calvörde . The plant in Hamburg, which PepsiCo took over in 2016, was closed in 2018 and production relocated to Calvörde.
