Gerd Bogislav from Below

Gerd Bogislav von Below (born July 30, 1726 in Peest , † September 20, 1786 in Köslin ) was a royal Prussian colonel and commander of a grenadier battalion and knight of the Pour le Mérite .

His parents were Heino Friedrich von Below (* 1681; † 1750), district administrator of the Schlawe-Pollnow district, and his wife Charlotte Luise († 1757), a born von Wobeser from the Klein-Silkow family .

He became an ensign in Infantry Regiment No. 2 in 1743 , ensign in 1745 and second lieutenant in 1755, and premier lieutenant in 1756. In 1760 he became a staff captain and a real captain. On July 10, 1773 he became major and commander of a grenadier battalion, which was formed from two grenadier companies of regiment No. 17 and two of regiment No. 22 . On June 13, 1782 he became lieutenant colonel and on October 4, 1784 colonel. In June 1783 he had already received the order Pour le Mérite. He died in September 1786.

In the wars since 1744 he was involved in the battles near Hohenfriedberg , Soor , Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Hochkirch and Torgau , as well as in the battles of Görlitz and Jauernick.

He was married to Friderike Lousie von Below (* October 18, 1746, † October 30, 1798 in Palow) from the house of Dänow. The couple had the following children:
