Gerd Delenschke

Gerd Delenschke (born August 10, 1925 in Berlin ; † January 13, 2018 ) was a German university professor for Marxism-Leninism and a party functionary of the GDR block party NDPD . For many years he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Delenschke, son of a worker, attended elementary, middle and high school. On April 20, 1943 he became a member of the NSDAP . In the same year he was drafted into the armed forces for military service. He became a prisoner of war .

After the war he worked from 1948 to 1951 as a teacher at the 5th and 17th elementary school in Berlin-Lichtenberg. In 1948 he became a member of the FDGB and in 1950 the NDPD. He attended the NDPD College for National Politics in Waldsieversdorf . From 1952 to 1954 he was director of the 10th elementary school in Berlin-Lichtenberg and completed a distance learning course at the German Central Pedagogical Institute (DPZI). In 1953/54 he was a member of the city district council assembly in Berlin-Lichtenberg . From 1954 to 1956 he was the deputy director of the Kant high school in Berlin.

From 1954 to 1981 he was a member of the NDPD parliamentary group in Berlin and later a member of the People's Chamber. After another correspondence course at the Potsdam University of Education from 1955 to 1960, he became a high school history teacher. From 1956 to 1961 he was the director of the children's and youth sports school in Berlin . From 1961 to 1965 he was a member of the NDPD district committee in Berlin and at the same time senior research assistant at the pedagogical faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1965 to 1973 he was head of the National Relations Department at the Secretariat of the Main Committee of the NDPD. From 1973 to 1990 he was again a member of the NDPD district committee in Berlin and from 1981 to 1990 city councilor of Berlin.

From 1970 to 1990 he was Vice President of the GDR-Italy Friendship Society and from 1973 lecturer at the Marxism-Leninism section of the Humboldt University in Berlin .

His father-in-law was the SED functionary Rudolf Albrecht . Delenschke died at the age of 92.
