Gerd Dessel

Gerhard Dessel (born March 16, 1930 in Hagen - Haspe ; † November 24, 2010 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 1998 he was mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Ennepetal .

Life

Gerd Dessel was born in Hasperbach in 1930, which at that time belonged to Haspe. Haspe had been incorporated into Hagen a year before his birth, Hasperbach became a district of Ennepetal in 1949. He trained as a technical draftsman and worked in a steel mill in Hasperbach. There he was also a works council and became a master craftsman .

From 1970 to 2004 he was a member of the Ennepetal City Council for the SPD. He was chairman of the local SPD association Ennepetal-Voerde (he now lived in Voerde) and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council. He died in 2010 at the age of 80 after heart surgery.

Mayor's office

After he was already deputy mayor of Ennepetal, he was nominated by the SPD as mayor candidate in 1994. He won the election to succeed August Born (EWG / FWE) and was Ennepetal's mayor until 1998. Gerd Dessel's successor in Ennepetal was the non-party CDU candidate Michael Eckhardt .
