August Born
Heinrich Walter August Born (* 1923 ; † December 10, 1998 ) was a German politician (EEC). From 1989 to 1994 he was mayor of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Ennepetal .
Life
August Born learned the trade of a machinist . Together with his younger brother, he owned a tool factory in Ennepetal- Milspe , which will continue to exist as a family business in the fourth generation as of 2020. August Born's niece Cornelia Born-Maijer is running for the Ennepetal mayoral election 2020.
Soccer player
August Born was an avid soccer player. He started at TuS Milspe when he was eleven , which became TuS Ennepetal in 1952 . For example, he was a member of the team that played in the 1946/47 season of the Landesliga Westfalen , the highest league at the time, in front of 12,000 spectators at Bremenplatz 2-2 against FC Schalke 04 . From 1988 he was 1st chairman of the TuS Ennepetal.
politics
From 1975 until his death he was a member of the city council for the voter group Ennepetal voter community (EWG), the forerunner of the free voters of Ennepetal (FWE). He co-founded the party in 1974. In the city council he was a member of several committees, for example chairman of the sports committee for many years.
From 1987 August Born succeeded the late Werner Mürmann during the term of office of Friedrich Döpp as Vice Mayor of Ennepetal. From 1989 to 1994 Born was elected first mayor for one term. Under his successor Gerd Dessel , Born was again Vice Mayor during his entire term of office until August 1998.
He was a member of the Association of Cities and Towns in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Honors
A street in a new building area on the upper Strückerberg of the Ennepetal district of Büttenberg was named after him.
