Gerhard Beckmann

Gerhard Beckmann (born July 12, 1893 in Danzig ; † January 1, 1976 in Bremen ) was a German judge .

Life

After graduating from high school in Danzig, Beckmann studied law at the Albertus University in Königsberg . In the summer semester of 1913 he became a member of the Corps Masovia . As a war volunteer , he took part in the entire First World War on the war front . He received the Prussian Military Honor and both Iron Crosses and became an officer . It was not until 1920, in the Weimar Republic , that he was able to take his legal traineeship and obtain a Dr. iur. PhD . After his legal clerkship and the assessor examination , he was a judge in Danzig from 1925 to 1945. In 1922 he married Hertha Both from Danzig . In the battle for East Pomerania , Beckmann fled to southern Germany with his family , but soon found a new job at the Bremerhaven District Court . After a few years transferred to the Bremen Regional Court , he became Regional Court Director . The Bremen citizenship elected him as a deputy member of the State Court of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . When he died at the age of 83 and was cremated , Werner Mey , Vice President of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen , spoke .
