Gerhard Drews (born April 26, 1954 ) is a former German soccer player who played 314 games in the 2nd Bundesliga for SG Wattenscheid 09 from 1975 to 1987 and scored 55 goals. Gerhard "Kaki" Drews leads the Wattenscheid mission list in the 2nd division ahead of Peter Kunkel (310) and Günter Tinnefeld (274).

career

Drews came from SV Höntrop to SG Wattenscheid 09 in 1975 and played the first season in the amateur team. In the final phase of the 1975/76 season, the amateur came to his first five appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 1976/77 round he was taken on by the first chairman Klaus Steilmann in the team's licensed squad , but only made three appearances alongside Helmut Horsch , Reinhold Klee , Helmut Zyla , Ewald Hammes , Piero Lussu , Carlos Babington , Peter Wloka and Jürgen Jendrossek in the Lohrheidestadion team supervised by coach Erhard Ahmann . When, with coach Hubert Schieth in 1977/78, the black and whites advanced to sixth place in the table, Drews established himself for the first time in the regular line-up with 31 missions and seven goals. In the last year of the two-pronged 2. Bundesliga through the north and south seasons, the offensive player had his personal best record. Together with goalkeeper Manfred Behrendt and attacker Peter Kunkel, he completed all 42 rounds and scored 15 more goals for SG 09. The 10th place in the table was enough for nomination for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga installed from 1981/82.

In the 1986/87 series, when Hans-Werner Moors was the coach in Lohrheide, Gerhard Drews' professional career came to an end. He only came to eight missions. Now the attackers Harald Kügler and Uwe Tschiskale were in attack and the long-time striker Peter Kunkel was also on the retreat. Drews had his last appearance in the 2. Bundesliga on the 32nd matchday, May 8, 1987, in the 3-0 away defeat at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. In the summer of 1987 he ended his high-class career.
