Gerhard Exner (surgeon)

Gerhard Exner (born October 6, 1942 in Stuhm , West Prussia , † June 6, 2009 in Hamburg ) was a German surgeon.

Life

From the summer semester of 1962, Exner studied medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz . In January 1968 he passed the state examination in Mainz. After two years as a medical assistant , he was licensed as a doctor on January 1, 1970 .

He completed his surgical training at the Elisabethenstift in Darmstadt and at the Frankfurt-Hoechst municipal hospital . On December 18, 1974 doctorate he in Mainz for Dr. med. As a specialist in surgery (State Medical Association of Hesse), he joined the professional association accident hospital in Hamburg on June 1, 1976 . He devoted himself to Paraplegiology and directed more than 30 years, the Department of paraplegia . He set up a permanent ventilation station and successfully campaigned for the legislature to ensure that the treatment of paraplegics according to the Hospital Financing Act can continue to be billed in flexible daily rates instead of flat-rate per case and special remuneration.

In 2006 he retired. The funeral service was in St. Petri and Pauli in Hamburg-Bergedorf .
