politics

Gerhard Remppis has been a member of the Plochingen local council for the SPD since 1968, making him one of the longest serving local councils in Baden-Württemberg. Since 1997 he has also been a member of the district council of the Esslingen district .

In the 1976 state election, Remppis was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the first time , to which he belonged until 1988 through a second mandate from the Kirchheim constituency . From 1980 to 1988 he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group. Another re-election in 1988 failed because the SPD top candidate Dieter Spöri had won his constituency of Heilbronn directly and the resulting lower overhang of the CDU to establish the balance in the Stuttgart administrative district required fewer compensation mandates for the SPD .
