Gerhard Rommel (born February 10, 1934 in Schalkau ; † June 6, 2014 in Gransee ) was a German sculptor , medalist , coin designer and painter .

Life

Gerhard Rommel attended the technical college for applied arts in Sonneberg from 1948 to 1951 . Here he got an apprenticeship as a ceramic model. During his studies from 1952 to 1958 at the University of Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin-Weißensee , he took lessons from Heinrich Drake and Theo Balden . Gerhard Rommel worked as a freelancer in Berlin since 1958. From 1963 to 1965 he was a master student of Fritz Cremer at the German Academy of the Arts . Since 1962, Rommel has organized solo exhibitions at home and abroad and participated in central exhibitions in the GDR .
