Gerhard Stumme (District Administrator)

Gerhard Gustav Heinrich Stumme (born January 23, 1889 in Halberstadt , † February 15, 1934 in Nordhausen ) was a German municipal official.

Life

Stumme studied law and political science at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1909 he was reciprocated in the Corps Hasso-Borussia Freiburg . In 1920 he was at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University, University of Breslau for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. From January 1912 he worked as a court trainee in Breslau. During the First World War he served as a soldier in the German Army . Since 1922 government councilor in general administration, he was appointed district administrator in the Thuringian district of Weißensee in 1923 . He was later transferred to Nordhausen , where he took up the position of district administrator in the Grafschaft Hohenstein district on August 26, 1932. The official transfer of office was on October 1, 1932. Stumme was a member of the German National People's Party and in 1933 joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party . During his term of office, the Ilfeld district was incorporated into the Hohenstein district. He stood in sharp opposition to the NSDAP district leader. On February 15, 1934, he fell out of a window in the district office and died at the age of 45. He was buried in Halberstadt. Stumme married in 1914 and had three children.
