German Darts Masters

The German Darts Masters was a tournament on the European Tour in darts, which was carried out as part of the Pro Tour . It was organized annually from 2012 to 2017 by the Professional Darts Corporation and fell out of the program of the European Darts Tour 2018 because of the World Series of Darts tournament of the same name . The venue has been the Ballhausforum in Unterschleißheim since 2015 .

In the past, the Maritim Hotel in Berlin (in 2014) and the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen (in 2012 and 2013) hosted the tournament. In 2015 and 2016 the tournament took place in the Ballhausforum in Unterschleißheim . In 2017 the German Darts Masters stopped at the Sparkassen-Arena in Jena .

The reigning title holder is the Dutchman Michael van Gerwen , who won the final against Jelle Klaasen with 6: 2 legs in 2017 .

format

The tournament is played in the knockout system in the best of legs game mode .

Each leg is played in 501 double-out mode. This means that the respective player can only win each leg if he brings his 501 points to exactly 0 points with a final throw on a double field.

In the first two years of the tournament (2012 and 2013) 64 participants competed. 48 players have been competing since 2014, the 32 unseeded players have to qualify for the final round in a preliminary round.

Prize money

The prize money earned in the tournament is taken into account when calculating the Order of Merit .
