European Darts Tour 2020

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Darts Tour 2020 is the ninth edition of the darts tournament series in the PDC . It is part of the PDC Pro Tour 2020 and was originally supposed to consist of thirteen tournaments spread over the year in different European cities, as in the previous year . With the Belgian Darts Championship a tournament will take place in Belgium for the first time . After the COVID-19 pandemic largely paralyzed darts, some events were canceled.

The results there have an impact on the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit , which is jointly responsible for the qualification of several major tournaments, as well as the European Tour Order of Merit, which is the basis for the European Darts Championship 2020 .

Qualification mode

The qualification mode has changed compared to the previous year. As in the previous year, the top 16 players of the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit, who are set in the second round, qualify. In addition, the two highest placed players from the country in which the tournament is taking place automatically qualify. These 18 players must win their first game to receive prize money.

The PDC Tour Card Qualifiers for players from Great Britain and Ireland and those from the rest of Europe will be merged. This means that a total of 24 players qualify via a Tour Card Qualifier. The Nordic & Baltic Qualifier and the East Europe Qualifier will remain. The number of qualification places in the Host Nation Qualifier is limited to 2. The last two starting places will be awarded in an Associate Member Qualifier to players who could not earn a Tour Card at the Q-School.
