Gabriel Clemens (born August 16, 1983 in Saarlouis ) is a German darts player who has had a PDC tour card since 2018 .

Career

Until 2017

Clemens, who continues to work as an industrial mechanic, initially played mainly BDO tournaments, but still qualified for the European Darts Grand Prix 2016 and the European Darts Grand Prix 2017 of the PDC Europe , where he was eliminated in the first round.

At the World Masters 2017 he was the first German player in the history of the tournament to reach the semi-finals, in which he was defeated by number one seed Mark McGeeney . After missing the qualification for the BDO World Darts Championship 2018 , he switched to the rival organization, the PDC, at the beginning of 2018 .

2018 season

At the Qualifying School of the PDC in Hildesheim he won the last of the four tournaments and is one of the 128 players who are allowed to play all tournaments of the PDC Pro Tour . Furthermore, he prevailed as one of three players in a qualification tournament for the Super League Darts 2018, in which a participant for the PDC World Darts Championship 2019 is determined. Right at the beginning of the Pro Tour he achieved good results, with which he qualified for the UK Open 2018 , in which he reached round 3 and lost to Kim Huybrechts .

At the European Darts Open 2018 he reached the second round for the first time on the European Tour , but failed in this to Mervyn King . After failing to qualify for the German Darts Grand Prix 2018 and the German Darts Open 2018 , he reached the first round at the Austrian Darts Open 2018 . On April 29, 2018, he achieved his best result to date on the PDC Pro Tour with the semi-finals at Players Championship Event 10 . At the European Darts Grand Prix 2018 he reached the first round. At Players Championship Event 11 on May 19, 2018, he exceeded his best performance and was the first German player to reach the final of a Players Championship event. In the semifinals he defeated Peter Wright, who was in first place, 6-4 and was defeated by Gary Anderson 5-6 in the final .

As leader of the Super League Darts , he received an invitation to the German Darts Masters 2018 . Here he met Gary Anderson again and lost 6-2 despite a 2-0 lead.

At the Players Championship Finals 2018 he reached the round of 16. Clemens finished the Super League Darts in 2nd place. Since he was already qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship 2019 via the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit , he decided not to take part in the final tournament of the Super League.

Season 2019

At the beginning of the year Clemens reached two further finals at the Players Championships , but Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton were each beaten 4-8. At the German Darts Masters 2019 he reached his first final in a tournament broadcast on TV and lost 6-8 to Peter Wright . He qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts 2019 through a qualification tournament . There he won his preliminary group and then retired with 9:10 against Glen Durrant .
