Germinghausen is a village in the southern Sauerland . It forms a locality and the local authority district 22 of the city of Drolshagen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Olpe . The place has 284 inhabitants.

Germinghausen located about three kilometers north of Drolshagen center and just seven kilometers west-northwest of Olpe and the southern slopes of the Biggesee . The landscape is strongly characterized by farms and the hills of the southwestern Sauerland, but also commercial settlements.

Three streams flow in the local area, the Wintersohler Bach and the Hützenau, both of which flow into the Rose , and the Herpel, which flows into the Listertalsperre . There are appropriately named localities in Drolshagen for all three streams.

history

The first documentary mention of Germinghausen regarding a pledge of property dates from 1413. The place was in the fiefdom of the Drolshagen monastery and near the Eisenstrasse from Frankfurt to Hagen; Remnants of this road in the form of several parallel verlaufenen Hohlwegen (sunken paths) are available from Germinghausen and since 1990 as a ground monument registered. In 1518 a smith near Germinghausen is mentioned. In 1949 a spacious chapel was built and consecrated to the patronage of St. Engelbert ; it is the catholic church of the chapel community Germinghausen in the pastoral group Germinghausen / Junkernhöh of the parish Drolshagen.

Infrastructure and economy

Germinghausen is very conveniently located on the L 708, which goes through the town and forms the Drolshagen junction of the federal motorway 45 in the central settlement area towards the neighboring Junkernhöh . On the L 708 and K 36 there is a former Coca-Cola logistics center on the outskirts , which in September 2015 it was announced that it would be closed in February 2016. The branch had 89 employees. The Buchholz industrial park is located between the motorway and the country road .

The center of village life is the village community center GJK , in which, in addition to Germinghausen, the localities Junkernhöh and Köbbinghausen are represented, which together form the neighboring district councilor district 21.

Germinghausen Viaduct

West of AS Drolshagen, the A 45 ( Sauerland line ) runs over the 196 m long Germinghausen viaduct at 460 m above sea level . The girder bridge made of reinforced concrete was erected in 1971 and dimensioned for bridge class 60, which, however, could not be confirmed in subsequent calculations. Reinforcement measures were then taken, which essentially enabled a classification according to DIN Technical Report 101.
