Frenkhausen is a place in the southern Sauerland . It forms a locality and, together with Frenkhauserhöh and Alperscheid, forms the local councilor district of the same name in the city of Drolshagen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Olpe . The village of Frenkhausen has 453 inhabitants, Frenkhauserhöh 20 and Alperscheid 32.

Location and traffic

Frenkhausen is about three kilometers away between Drolshagen and Olpe , near the southern foothills of the Bigge lake and the Lister dam . The village has good transport links. It is right next to the Olpe junction of the 45 federal motorway and the 54/55 federal road . The local traffic runs on the district road 16 through the town center. The next train station is in Olpe on the Biggetalbahn .

Club life

There are several clubs in the village, including a music and sports club as well as the "flag-raising club", which flags the village in various places during the annual rifle festival. Since the Öhringhausen school community was dissolved, there is no longer a school in the immediate vicinity; Since 1980, a kindergarten has been run in the village of Frenkhausen under the sponsorship of the local parents' association.

The center of village life is the small church of the St. Franziskus Xaverius chapel congregation under the patronage of Franziskus Xaverius , which is looked after by the chapel association . The construction of the current building was decided in 1968 and completed as an octagon by 1972 ; since then, padres of the Pallottihaus Olpe have celebrated Holy Mass every Sunday . At the same place there were two previous buildings from the years 1896 and 1769. The small square in front of the church was redesigned in 2017, including an illuminated fountain that marks the social center of the village.

The landscape is strongly characterized by farms and the hills of the southwestern Sauerland in the nature reserve Biggesee / Listersee and the nature reserve Alsmicketal , which is mainly developed for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts; Swimming and water sports are also offered to a limited extent. For accommodation and catering, there is an on-site inn with 22 beds and an attached restaurant.
