Area description

Lower course of the Alsmicke in the Alsmicketal nature reserve with hillside forests

The NSG is a biotope complex with the near-natural stream of the Alsmicke with accompanying species-rich wetland and poor grassland, alluvial forests, still waters, natural oak and beech forests. There were rare species potamogeton polygonifolius , teat-sump ledges , Viola palustris , thread bulrush , sedge , star-sedge and Alps witchweeds detected. The Alsmicketal has a high quality of life for many rare animal species (e.g. amphibians ).

Reason for expulsion

The NSG was expelled for four reasons:

1. to maintain, develop and restore typical habitats, habitats and their communities, in particular a near-natural stream course with accompanying species-rich wet and lean grassland, alluvial forests, still waters and near-natural oak and beech forests as well as the typical habitat plant and animal species (including knotweed spawn, Teat marsh sedge, marsh violet, thread rush, millet and star sedge, alpine witchweed),

2. for securing as a connecting surface in the biotope network,

3. for scientific, natural history and cultural reasons, in particular for the preservation of soils worthy of protection: soils with a high to very high biotope development potential and very high soil fertility, regulating and buffering function (e.g. typical brown earth, Anmoorgley, Nassgley) and

4. Because of the rarity, special character and the outstanding beauty of the brook valley and the hillside forests.
