Iseringhausen is a village in the southern Sauerland . It forms a locality and together with Eltge and Heiderhof the district 4 Iseringhausen of the city of Drolshagen in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Olpe . The place has around 662 inhabitants, Heiderhof 42 and Eltge 3.

Location and village life

Iseringhausen is located at an altitude of around 377 m in the southwestern Sauerland, about three kilometers south of the center of Drolshagen and seven kilometers southwest of Olpe. The landscape and economy are strongly shaped by farms. Iseringhausen located in Brachtpe valley surrounded by the hills of southwestern Sauerland near the Biggesee .

The village has numerous clubs such as singing clubs for men, women and children, the Iseringhausen volunteer fire brigade founded in 1906 , a rifle brotherhood and the sports club SpVg 1982 Iseringhausen and, since 2007, the village club Sympathisches Iseringhausen . The mayor and chairman of the village association is Leo Trumm.

History and church

Iseringhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1349. Since the end of the Middle Ages and early modern times in the 15th and 16th centuries, mining has been practiced in the region of today's Drolshagen city. In the 19th century, iron production, which was still pre-industrial, reached its peak in the ore mines around Iseringhausen and did not officially end until 1990 when the mining rights of the last mine came to an end.

Today's Catholic parish church of St. Anthony Hermit was in the years 1908 to 1909 under the direction of William Sunder-Plassmann built. The first chapel was built in Iseringhausen in the late 16th century, which was replaced by a new single-nave church in 1702. The Catholic parish of Iseringhausen belongs to the parish Drolshagen in the Deanery of South Sauerland of the Archdiocese of Paderborn . The Protestant parish of Iseringhausen belongs to the municipality of Olpe.
