Gero Meyer (born December 28, 1978 in Hildesheim ) is a German vaulting artist . He is European champion , German champion and multiple vice world champion in men's singles.

Career

Meyer comes from the Oldenburger Münsterland and started group vaulting at the Cloppenburg riding club at the age of 6, and then also individual vaulting at the age of 15. Due to a lack of capacity in Cloppenburg, Meyer moved to RuF Friesoythe in 1994 . A participation in the World Equestrian Games in Rome in 1998 was prevented for a short time due to injury, a year later he became European champion in Nitra . In 2003 he was awarded the German Vaulting Badge in gold for his tournament successes . In the same year, after completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he interrupted his sporting career by spending several months in New Zealand. In 2004 Meyer moved to Kassel , in 2008 to VV Pfaffenhofen .

In winter 2006/2007 Meyer toured with the horse show Apassionata through Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
