Gerrit Emmingmann

Gerrit Emmingmann (born October 5, 1868 in Gildehaus ; † after 1933) was a German architect whose main focus was in Berlin . He was a member of the Association of German Architects .

Emmingmann studied architecture at the Polytechnic in Berlin-Charlottenburg and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris . His further training took place in Berlin with Ludwig Hoffmann , Ernst Eberhard von Ihne and Heino Schmieden . He lived in Amsterdam for three months during his studies in 1893 before continuing his studies in Paris. After completing his training, he began building residential and commercial buildings in Amsterdam, Berlin, Kassel and Kołobrzeg . For the year 1911 (Derfflingerstraße 19) and the period from 1924 to 1934 ( Unter den Eichen127 in Lichterfelde , today the corner house on Begonia Square opposite the Botanical Garden ), a residence in Berlin can be proven.

Well-known buildings and designs

Fontanebogen 16/17, Berlin
  • "Koffiehuis met bovenwoningen" (coffee house with apartments above), Van Baerlestraat 96 in Amsterdam (1893.) The house is to the right of the Concertgebouw (concert building).
  • Participation in the architectural competition for the construction of a concert and social hall in Königsberg (1904) Emmingmann submitted a design developed with government building manager Georg Petersen entitled Festive , which received the third prize.
  • Participation in the architecture competition for the new building of the Delmenhorst town hall (1908). Emmingmann won 1st prize together with Heinz Stoffregen ; Stoffregen received the building contract with the condition that Emmingmann's design of the building layout should be adopted.
  • Fontanepromenade 16/17 residential building in Berlin-Kreuzberg (1911 with Franz Schinkat; under monument protection ): House No. 16 was designed by Schinkat, No. 17 by Emmingmann.
