occupation

The German DVD title of a movie by the Sami - Norwegian director Nils Gaup from 1990 is stranded . It was produced and financed with the support of Disney Studios , which also took over the distribution. The film ran on German television under the title Stranded on Treasure Island . It is based on the novel Håkon Håkonsen by Oluf Vilhelm Falck-Ytter, first published in 1873 .

action

It tells the story of the boy Haakon Haakonsen, who moves away from home and goes to sea to earn money for his family's house, which is threatened with sale. After being hired on a ship, pirates take over and sink in a storm. Haakon wakes up alone on an island and finds a great treasure there, which the pirates claim, which Haakon tries to prevent.

background

The film was shot in two versions: for the Norwegian market in a version with Norwegian and English passages, for the world market in a completely English version. There was no synchronization, but the corresponding scenes were shot twice (first in Norwegian, then in English), which means that the two versions are also different in the picture.

criticism

"Even without high-tech, the Norwegian director Nils Gaup succeeded in making a moving, atmospheric and extremely exciting adventure film in the style of classic works like Treasure Island ."
