The Geuenbach rises in the Hohen Fläming north of Dretzen in Saxony-Anhalt and drains in a wide arc to the northeast into the state of Brandenburg to Buckau and over this to the Havel . It is the longest tributary of the Buckau that tapers from the left.

course

The largely natural Fläming River rises on the northern slope of the Hohen Fläming about 500 meters north of the Brandenburg village of Dretzen in Saxony-Anhalt, 100 meters from the Brandenburg state border. The Geuenbach initially describes a wide arc. It flows within Saxony-Anhalt to the west or northwest, then swings to the north and shortly before reaching the state border with Brandenburg after about three kilometers relatively sharply to the east. Behind the state border, the Geuenbach takes on its longest tributary, the Kirchenheider Bach , which flows into it from the right. In Köpernitz he crosses the federal highway 107 . East of the village, about 200 meters south of the federal highway 2 , it finally flows into the Buckau. The total length of the river is about 4.6 kilometers, its catchment area is 16.85 square kilometers. There are four weirs in the course of the stream .

Protected areas

In the Brandenburg part, the Geuenbach flows through several protected areas. It is located in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park and from the mouth of the Kirchenheider Bach downstream in the FFH area Buckau and tributaries. Above the Kirchenheider Bach, the Geuenbach in the FFH area Buckau and tributary rivers is placed under protection. Individual river sections are designated as protected biotopes .
