Giacomo Giordano

Giacomo Giordano , baptized name Geronimo (* around 1591 in Castel Baronia , Campania ; † November 9, 1661 in Lacedonia , Campania) was an Italian Benedictine and Roman Catholic bishop .

Between 1611 and 1615 Giordano made his vows as a Benedictine monk of the Montevergine Abbey in Campania . In the abbey and the congregation he assumed numerous functions: prior , definitor , abbot , novice master , visitor , procurator general and four times the office of abbot general .

Giordano was appointed bishop of the small diocese of Lacedonia on October 28, 1651, with only about a thousand inhabitants. He strove for the religious renewal of the diocese. He also had the bishop's palace rebuilt in Lacedonia .
