Gianluca Buratto

Gianluca Buratto (born in Cernusco sul Naviglio ) is an Italian opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Buratto first studied saxophone and clarinet before completing a vocal degree at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan . He won the Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition in Deutschlandsberg and the Rotary Prize for vocal chamber music in Milan . He appears regularly with the Claudio Monteverdi Choir Crema under Bruno Gini , who is dedicated to the polyphonic repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries and performs works by Bach , Buxtehude , Campion , Cornelius , Haydn and Rossi .

Buratto made his operatic debut in 2009 in the world premiere of Solbiatis Il carro ei canti at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. This was followed by minor roles in Stravinski's Pulcinella , Cestis Le disgrazie d'amore , Donizetti's Maria Stuarda , Mercadantes Virginia and Puccini's La Bohème at the Wexford Opera Festival and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Ambrosini's world premiere Il Killer di parole , the doctor in Macbeth under Riccardo Muti at the Salzburg Festival 2011, at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as in Rome and Chicago , I due Foscari in Valencia, Le nozze di Figaro in Barcelona and Giulio Cesare in Egitto with Il complesso barocco (also on CD).

In the concert hall Buratto performed with the Bach Consort Vienna under Rubén Dubrovsky in the Wiener Musikverein and at the Psalm Festival in Graz, took over the bass solos in Bach's B minor Mass with Jordi Savall in Madrid and Barcelona, in La Betulia liberata with Riccardo Muti in Salzburg and Ravenna, as well as in Mozart's Great Mass in C minor at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome under Kent Nagano . At the Theater an der Wien he was heard in three concertante productions by Handel : 2011 as Meraspe in Giulio Cesare in Egitto , 2013 as Argante in Rinaldo and 2014 as Meraspe in Admeto, re di Tessaglia . In 2016 he was seen as a ghost and a priest at the Bregenz Festival in Amleto .
