Gianni Pisani (* 1935 in Naples ) is an Italian artist.

Life

Gianni Pisani studied painting at the Accademia di belle arti di Napoli with Emilio Notte . First he painted expressionistically , then in the 1960s he took up international tendencies such as performance and object art , in the 1970s he painted surrealist with influences from Pop Art , in the last few decades he returned to expressionist painting, where he also dealt with religious topics.

In 1982 he briefly taught painting at the Accademia di belle arti di Brera in Milan and exhibited there in 1983 at the Palazzo Dugnani . Pisani returned to Naples in 1984, first teaching and then director of the Accademia di belle arti di Napoli . He worked on various projects with Gillo Dorfles , in particular he worked with Lucio Amelio , who had helped shape the avant-garde scene in Naples since the 1960s, at the 1988 and 1993 Biennale del Sud .

Since 2004, two works have been in public space in the Salvator Rosa subway station of the Metropolitana di Napoli , which he and Mimmo Rotella , Ernesto Tatafiore , Mimmo Paladino and Renato Barisani as one of the Stazioni dell'Arte (art stations) on Line 1 artistically designed.

Further works are u. a. in the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina (MADRE) and the Museo d'arte religiosa contemporanea (ARCA).

Exhibitions

Between 1953 and 1963 he participated in group exhibitions in Italy, 1961 in Alessandria, 1962 in Minneapolis, New Orleans, Denver and Philadelphi, in Germany 1964 in the Galerie Wirth Berlin. Gianni Pisani had his first solo exhibitions in 1958 in the Galleria Galatea Torino, 1961 Galleria Il Traghetto Venezia, 1962 Galleria L´Obelisco Roma, 1962 Galleria Il Centro Ischia and 1964 Galeria Il Centro Napoli. Since his first exhibition in 1955, in the same year a series of awards such as the Premio Città Cesenatico began , he had other solo and group exhibitions , including his three-time participation in the Quadriennale Nazionale d'Arte in Rome, VIII. 1960 and IX. Quadriennial 1965/66 in the Palazzo dei Esposizione and XI. 1986 Quadrennial in the Palazzo dei Congressi .

In 1995 he was a participant in the 46th Venice Biennale , in 1999 a large solo exhibition was held in the Scuderia of the Palazzo Reale in Naples, and in 2003 in the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples.
