Gianrico Ruzza (born February 14, 1963 in Rome ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia .

Life

Gianrico Ruzza studied at the Pontifical Roman Seminary and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rome on May 16, 1987 .

After ordination he was an assistant until 1990 and then until 1997 Subregens at the Pontifical Roman Seminary. During this time he obtained a licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University . He was secretary of the Roman city mission, the diocesan pastoral council and the committee for the Eucharistic World Congress in 2000. From 2001 to 2006 he headed the ministry for clergy in the vicariate of the diocese of Rome. During this time he was also rector of the Church of San Lorenzo in Miranda at the Roman Forum . From 1997 to 2006 he headed the Institute for Men's Retreats at the Ponte Rotto . Since 2006 he was pastor at San Roberto Bellarmino , until 2013 titular church of the later Pope Francis . Since 2010 he has also been President of the Board of Directors of the Interdiocesan Institute for the Care of the Clergy.

On September 14, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him titular bishop of Subaugusta and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Rome. He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Vicar Agostino Vallini on June 11 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the vice-gentleman in the diocese of Rome, Filippo Iannone OCarm , and auxiliary bishop Guerino Di Tora .

As auxiliary bishop he was responsible for the central sector of the diocese of Rome until 2019 and secretary prelate of the vicariate of the diocese from 2017 to 2019. In 2019 he was given responsibility for the southern sector of the diocese.

On June 18, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Civitavecchia-Tarquinia. The inauguration took place on July 25th of the same year.
