A German alternative rock band from Leverkusen is poisonous .

Band history

The band was founded in 2001 around Karina, Dirk Ulrich, Jojo and Paul. In 2001 they became weekly winners at the SWR3 Rookies Contest. The following year the band made their first unplugged live DVD. In 2004 bassist Jojo was seen in the pseudo-documentary The Graduating Class 04/05 on ProSieben and VIVA .

In 2004 they were finalists at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and winners of the Die Happy Win & Sing Contest. So Karina was allowed to do a live duet with Marta from Die Happy on their unplugged tour. They also played with many other bands and a. with 4Lyn . In 2004 the song Drowning also appeared on the sampler All Freaks - Alternative Vol.1 by Netmusiczone Records .

In 2006 Giftig signed with EMI Publishing Hamburg . Among others, Dirk Riegner worked on their debut album , who already worked with HIM , the Guano Apes and Oomph! worked together and Frank Bornemann , who had also worked with the Guano Apes. However, the album was mixed and mastered by Dirk Ulrich in the Brainrox Studio. It was released in 2006 under the title 10,000 words on Brainrox Records, a label that guitarist Dirk runs himself. The distribution was at DELTA Music from Frechen near Cologne, which have since gone bankrupt. Fallen Angel was released as a pre-release .

An album announced for 2010 has not yet been released. The band is currently inactive.

Music genre

Musically, the band is reminiscent of similar alternative rock bands such as Guano Apes, Die Happy or Exilia . The lyrics are soulful and in German, the music on the other hand rather harder, based on the metal and crossover sound of the 1990s and with modern elements such as samples and scratches .
