Gila Altmann

Gila Altmann (* 22. May 1949 in Wilhelmshaven as Gisela Kowalke ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ).

From 1998 to 2002 she was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1969 at Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium in Wilhelmshaven, Gila Altmann studied at the University of Education in Hildesheim for teaching at elementary and secondary schools in the subjects of fine arts , mathematics and chemistry , which she finished in 1973. Then she was a teacher at a special school for the learning disabled until 1976 and then until 1991 at the Moordorf secondary school .

From 2005 to 2007 she worked as a government advisor in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Environment. From 2007 to 2012 she worked as a consultant for the State Tourism Institute of Azerbaijan. Then she returned to Germany. She currently works in the International Office of the Jade University in Wilhelmshaven.

Altmann is married and has three children.

Political party

In 1981 she became a member of the Green Party. From 1991 to 1994 she was the full-time state chairman of the Greens in Lower Saxony . In the federal elections in 1990, 1994 and 1998, she ran as the top candidate of Alliance 90 / The Greens at number 1 on the Lower Saxony state list.

MPs

Gila Altmann belonged to the city ​​council of Aurich and was chairwoman of the Green parliamentary group from 1986 to 1993 .

From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1994 to 1998 she was transport policy spokeswoman for the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. Altmann was always drawn into the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list.

Gila Altmann has been a member of the district council in the Aurich district since 2013, where she is the spokesperson for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group. Since the local elections in 2016, she has also been spokeswoman for the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Aurich.

Public offices

On October 27, 1998, Gila Altmann was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in the cabinet of the federal government led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder . After the federal election in 2002 , she left office on October 22, 2002.
