Gilbert Guillaume

Gilbert Guillaume (born December 4, 1930 in Bois-Colombes / France ) is an international lawyer and was a member of the International Court of Justice until February 11, 2005 .

After studying law at the University of Paris , he entered the French civil service as a lawyer and was a member of many French diplomatic delegations. Guillaume also worked as a judge or in a leading position in international organizations such as the OSCE . From 1987 to 2005 he worked as a judge at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague , where he also served as president from 2000 to 2003. He then worked as an ad hoc judge at the IGH in several cases.

Guillaume was also chairman of the French section of the International Law Association .
