Occurrence, nutrition and reproduction

The main distribution area is in the central east of South America. It occurs in the south of Brazil , in the east of Bolivia and in the east of Paraguay . Isolated populations also exist in the north of Venezuela and on the border with Colombia ( Táchira and Norte de Santander ). They inhabit low lying dry deciduous forests as well as gallery forests and overgrown clearings usually below 1000 meters. In the north of Venezuela they are also found in mountain rainforests at an altitude of 1350 meters.

Long Warbler feed mainly on insects and other invertebrates , which they search for hopping on the ground or in the dense undergrowth. The tail bobs steadily up and down and is slightly spread when moving downwards. They usually lay their nest on the ground. They use grass, leaves and vegetable fibers as nesting material. A clutch usually comprises three eggs. There are no studies on the incubation and nestling time. In the northeast of Colombia a breeding female was spotted at the end of October and a specimen building a nest in the southeast of Brazil in September.
