Gioacchino Illiano (born July 27, 1935 in Bacoli ; † February 6, 2020 in Nocera Superiore ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno .

Life

After his theological training, Gioacchino Illiano was ordained a priest on July 2, 1961 and worked as a pastor in Siano. He was a teacher in state schools and a professor of pastoral theology at the Higher Institute for Religious Studies in Salerno .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno on August 8, 1987 . The Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno , Guerino Grimaldi , gave him on 3 October of the same year in the Cathedral of Salerno , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Angelo Campagne , Bishop of Alife-Caiazzo , and Gerardo Pierro , Bishop of Avellino . In 1990/91 he was Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Amalfi-Cava dei Tirreni. On March 24, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.

He was Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and Prior of the Commandery of Nocera-Sarno.
