Giovanni Bianchi

Giovanni Bianchi (born April 8, 1918 in Florence , Italy , † September 21, 2003 in Collevalenza (district of Todi ); Province of Perugia , Italy) was Bishop of Pescia .

Life

Bianchi was ordained a priest on July 6, 1941 . In 1951 he became pastor in Castelfiorentino before he was appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Florence in 1961 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 22, 1964 titular bishop of Seleuciana and auxiliary bishop in Florence. The episcopal ordination received Giovanni Bianchi on September 8 of that year of Ermenegildo Florit Cardinal , Archbishop of Florence. Co- consecrators were Antonio Bagnoli , Bishop of Fiesole , and Enrico Bartoletti , then auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Lucca and later archbishop there. Until 1965 he took part in the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him on June 27, 1977. to the Bishop of Pescia.

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on December 18, 1993 and appointed Giovanni De Vivo as his successor. Giovanni Bianchi retired to his residence in Collevalenza, where he died in September 2003.
