Ermenegildo Cardinal Florit (born July 5, 1901 in Fagagna , Italy, † December 8, 1985 in Florence ) was Archbishop of Florence .

Life

Ermenegildo Florit received his theological and philosophical training in Udine and Rome . He received on 11 April 1925, the sacrament of the priesthood and worked after completing further studies from 1927 to 1929 as a parish pastor in the Archdiocese of Udine . From 1929 to 1954 he was a lecturer at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, of which he was dean from 1951 to 1954 . In addition to his teaching activities, he performed pastoral duties in various parishes in Rome. In 1951 he was appointed canon of St. Mark's Basilica and the honorary title of papal house prelate .

In 1954 Pope Pius XII appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Hierapolis in Syria and Koadjutorerzbischof of the Archdiocese of Florence, whose archbishop Ermenegildo Florit was the 1,962th He received the episcopal ordination on September 12, 1954 by Clemente Cardinal Micara , Cardinal Subdean and Cardinal Bishop of Velletri .
