Giovanni De Vivo (born March 24, 1940 in Colle di Val d'Elsa near Siena , Italy ; † September 20, 2015 in Pescia , Province of Pistoia , Italy) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Pescia .

Life

Giovanni De Vivo received after his philosophical and theological training in Siena and Rome on March 15, 1964 by the bishop of Colle di Val d'Elsa , Francesco Niccoli , the sacrament of priestly ordination . He held various tasks in the Archdiocese of Siena and was its vicar general .

On December 18, 1993 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Pescia . The Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino, Gaetano Bonicelli , donated him episcopal ordination on January 23, 1994 ; Co- consecrators were the retired Archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino, Ismaele Mario Castellano OP , and the Bishop of Alessandria , Fernando Charrier . His episcopal motto was In spe fundati . The inauguration took place on March 6th of the same year. In the Tuscan Bishops' Conference he was a delegate for the laity and for youth work. For health reasons, he was no longer able to perform the episcopate since March 2015.

Giovanni De Vivo was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . For over 20 years he was a member of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and Prior of the Commandery of Pistoia .
