Giovanni Conte (born March 12, 1955 ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player and coach . His nephew Fabrizio Conte was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Conte spent his junior years at EC Wil , later he moved to the capital for SC Bern . In the 1976/77 season , the winger won the Swiss championship with SC Bern. In the following season , in which the Mutzen missed their title defense, Conte was the most successful points collector in the National League A with 52 points . In 1978 he switched to EHC Biel , with whom he won another Swiss championship title in 1981. From 1982 to 1987 Conte was under contract with HC Lugano , where he had a successful period and won the Swiss championship twice, in 1986 and 1987.

From 1987 to 1989 he was head coach at SC Herisau in National League B behind the gang. He then worked as a sports manager at league competitor EHC Uzwil . In addition, Conte acted as head coach of his youth club EC Wil from 1992 to 1995.

International

For Switzerland , Conte took part in the B World Championships in 1978 , 1979 and 1981 . Previously, he had participated as a junior player in the U19 European Championships in 1973 and 1974 .
