Gisela Bornowski

Gisela Bornowski (* 1962 in Ansbach ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and has been the regional bishop of the Ansbach-Würzburg parish since March 1, 2014 .

Life

Bornowski grew up in Obersulzbach in Middle Franconia . After graduating from the Platen grammar school in Ansbach , she studied Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau and Heidelberg . She completed her vicariate from 1987 to 1990 in Gollhofen in the dean's office in Uffenheim . From 1990 she was pastor in the Dinkelsbühl dean's office in Obermichelbach and Untermichelbach , and from 1999 also in Dorfkemmathen . In September 2002 she became dean in the dean's office in Bad Windsheim .

On March 1, 2014 Bornowski took over the office of regional bishop in the church district of Ansbach-Würzburg as the successor to Christian Schmidt, making her the first woman in this position. The introductory service was held by the Bavarian regional bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm in the St. John's Church in Würzburg . The official seat of the regional bishop is in Ansbach. In her function Bornowski is a senior church councilor and a member of the regional church leadership.

Bornowski is married and has three children.
