Untermichelbach is a part of the municipality Wittelshofen in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Sulzach and the Hochwiesgraben flow through the church village , which flows into the Sulzach as a right tributary. Wittelshofen is a little further south-east. Otherwise, the place is surrounded by arable land and grassland with a few trees. In the southwest rises the Schafbuck ( 458  m above sea level ).

The district road AN 41 leads via Gelshofen to Dorfkemmathen (2.5 km northwest) or to Wittelshofen to state road 2218 (1.1 km southeast). Municipal roads lead to Obermichelbach (2.3 km to the west) or to Ammelbruch to the AN 50 (3.2 km to the north).

Untermichelbach is located on the Limesweg of the Franconian Alb Association , a section of the German Limes hiking trail .

history

In 1253 the place was mentioned in a document in which the Heilsbronn Monastery exchanged with the Commandery of the Teutonic Knight Order in Oettingen.

The place was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen . The imperial city of Dinkelsbühl wanted to assert them on their estates. In 1806 Untermichelbach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As a result of the municipal edict , the place was assigned to the Wittelshofen tax district formed in 1809 . At the same time the rural community of Untermichelbach was formed, to which the places Gelshofen , Gelsmühle , Neumühle and Obermichelbach belonged. The community was renamed after Obermichelbach in 1813. With the second community edict (1818), the community was given its original name again after Obermichelbach left.

The municipality of Untermichelbach had an area of ​​4.812 km². It was subordinate to the Dinkelsbühl regional court in terms of administration and jurisdiction and to the Dinkelsbühl tax office ( renamed Dinkelsbühl tax office in 1919 , Ansbach tax office since 1973 ). The jurisdiction remained with the District Court of Dinkelsbühl until 1879, from 1879 to 1973 the District Court of Dinkelsbühl was responsible, which has been a branch of the District Court of Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the Dinkelsbühl district in 1972, Untermichelbach came to the Ansbach district.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Untermichelbach was incorporated into Wittelshofen on July 1, 1972.
