history

Parishes and parishes

The parishes in the deanery district can look back on an evangelical tradition since the Reformation . The state rulership was essentially with the Margraviate Brandenburg-Ansbach , the imperial city Windsheim and the Freiherrn v. Seckendorff-Aberdar . The Reformation was introduced in the Principality of Ansbach in 1528. In 1522 an evangelical preacher was installed in Windsheim . On March 12, 1525, the church patronage was acquired by the city. Together with the villages of Külsheim , Oberntief and Wiebelsheim , Windsheim then became Protestant. In 1591 the imperial city of Windsheim acquired the second half of Illesheim , where the Reformation had been introduced as early as 1528, from the v. Berlichingen . The rule over Ickelheim lay with the Teutonic Order , exercised by the Coming Virnsberg . The landlord was, however, the Freiherr v. Seckendorff-Aberdar, who also owns the sovereignty in Unternehmerzenn alone, in Obernzenn together with Baron v. Seckendorff-Gudent owned. With the support of the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, the Reformation was implemented in these places in 1528. Egenhausen was not until 1552 by Freiherr v. Seckendorff-Aberdar acquired sovereignty from the Spalt Abbey . The Reformation is said to have been introduced there before 1544. In Unteraltenbernheim the Teutonic Order was sovereign. Nevertheless, the Reformation was able to gain a foothold there in 1525. In 1595 the Counter Reformation was partially successful. The Catholic and Protestant residents were then separated by the Zennbach. The two churches are almost next to each other.

Dean's office

The margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach was annexed to Prussia through sale in 1792 . After the mediatization on March 15, 1806, a Prussian superintendent was set up in Windsheim . The superintendent of Burgbernheim went into it. Further parishes were added from the superintendent of Neustadt an der Aisch . The Bavarian deanery was established on December 7, 1810.

Museum church in Franconia

The Hospital Church of the Holy Spirit has not been used as a church since the 1970s . In July 2006, after the renovation and reconstruction of the hospital church, the church museum in Franconia was opened as a branch of the Franconian open air museum in Bad Windsheim .
