The Evangelical Lutheran deanery in Kronach-Ludwigsstadt is one of the 16 deaneries in the Bayreuth church district . Acting dean is Dorothea Richter.
geography
The deanery district includes the Kronach district with the exception of Mitwitz, which belongs to the Michelau deanery district.
history
Most of the Kronach district used to belong to the Bamberg Monastery and is therefore traditionally Catholic. The north of the deanery district around Ludwigsstadt is traditionally evangelical. The office Seibelsdorf and the place Heinersdorf in the office Lichtenberg also belonged to Bayreuth. The Reformation was introduced in the margraviate in 1528. The community Steinbach am Wald used to belong to Bamberg and was cared for by Ludwigsstadt. The Christ Church was consecrated in 1953. In 1958 Steinbach am Wald became an independent parish. To the west, south and east of Kronach lie former imperial knighthood villages. The Knights of Rosenau introduced the Reformation in Mitwitz and Burggrub in 1567. The Freiherrn von Redwitz had numerous possessions in the Kronach area. In 1544 and 1557 in Weißenbrunn , 1549 in Küps , around 1550 in Unterrodach , 1552 in Burkersdorf , and 1560 in Schmölz, they introduced the Protestant faith in their domain . The Fischbach line of the Lords of Waldenfels introduced the Reformation in the town of Fischbach in 1548. Under the Lords of Guttenberg there was a temporary Counter-Reformation from 1600–1614.
The dean's office in Ludwigsstadt was established in 1810 and the dean's office in Kronach in 1925. On January 1, 2010, both deanery districts were merged. This took into account the population decline in the region.
