The Evangelical Lutheran Deanery in Kulmbach is one of the 16 deaneries of the Bayreuth church district in Bavaria.
history
In Kulmbach, the residence of the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach had been located on the Plassenburg since 1398 , and from 1604 it was moved to Bayreuth . Margrave Georg the Pious introduced the Reformation to his margravate in 1528. In Gärthenroth, the lords of Redwitz , who turned to the Reformation, had been arguing with the Michelsberg Monastery since 1529 about the occupation of the pastorate, whereby the Redwitz won and since the Thirty Years' War the pastorate was continuously occupied by Protestants. Since the Peace of Augsburg in 1555, knightly families were also allowed to turn to the Reformation. The knight Wolf Adolf von Waldenfels introduced Protestant teaching in Rugendorf in 1555 and set up his own parish with a church.
