The Evangelical Lutheran deanery of Bayreuth is one of the 16 deaneries of the Bayreuth church district . Jürgen Hacker is currently dean.
history
The Reformation was introduced in the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach in 1528. In 1604 the residence was moved to Bayreuth . In 1558 a superintendent was established in Bayreuth with the parishes of Bayreuth-Stadt , Bayreuth-Schloßkirche, Bayreuth-St. Johannis , Benk , Bindlach , Birk, Bronn, Busbach, Creußen, Eckersdorf , Emtmannsberg , Gesees , Lindenhardt, Mistelbach , Mistelgau , Neunkirchen am Main , Neustadt a. K., Obernsees, Pegnitz, Plech, Weidenberg and Wirbenz. With their establishment, the following parishes were added 1588 Haag , 1602 Schnabelwaid, 1614 Mengersdorf, 1652 Neustädlein am Forst and 1712 Bayreuth-St. George . The parishes Aufseß, Neustadt a. K. and Wirbenz came to Bavaria in 1803. On February 28, 1810, the superintendent became Bavarian. On December 7, 1810, the superintendent was continued as a deanery. Bronn, Creußen, Haag, Lindenhardt and Schnabelwaid were given to Creußen. Warmensteinach was a branch of Weidenberg and has been an independent parish since 1912.
Neudrossenfeld belonged from 1558 to the superintendent of Kulmbach. From December 7, 1810, the superintendent was continued as the Dean's office. In 1922 Neudrossenfeld fell to Bayreuth.
