history
The dean's office in Selb and the dean's office in Wunsiedel have a common origin. The Brandenburg-Kulmbach superintendent in Wunsiedel was established in 1558 with the following parishes: Arzberg, Bernstein, Höchstädt, Kirchenlamitz, Marktleuthen, Oberröslau, Schirnding, Selb, Thiersheim, Thierstein, Weißenstadt and Wunsiedel. On November 5, 1849 the deanery Kirchenlamitz was established and the following parishes were taken over by the deanery in Wunsiedel: Kirchenlamitz, Marktleuthen, Oberröslau, Schönwald, Selb, Spielberg and Weißenstadt. The seat of the deanery was moved to Selb in 1925. From 1935 the name was changed to the Dean's office in Selb . 1954 Oberröslau and Weißenstadt were given to Wunsiedel. Höchstädt, Hohenberg and Thierstein came to Selb from Wunsiedel at the same time.
