Gisela Schröter
Gisela Schröter (born August 19, 1928 in Sardehnen , East Prussia ; † November 5, 2011 in Leipzig ) was a German opera and concert singer (dramatic soprano / mezzo-soprano ).
Life
Schröter completed a vocal degree at the Berlin Conservatory , a. a. with Jean Nadolovitch and at the Opera Studio of the Dresden State Opera with Rudolf Dittrich . In 1957 she made her debut at the Dresden Opera House as the second noble boy in the Lohengrin opera . There she sang all the great mezzo-soprano and dramatic soprano roles. In 1959 she was a guest at the Bayreuth Festival as one of the flower girls in Parsifal . Since 1964 she has been a permanent guest at the Berlin State Opera ; here she sang u. a. the Carmen in the opera, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier , the composer in Ariadne auf Naxos and many others. In 1972 she became a regular member of the ensemble at the Berlin State Opera. There the artist took part in the world premiere of Ernst Hermann Meyer's opera Reiter in der Nacht in 1973 . Countless guest appearances have taken her to the opera houses of Barcelona , Lausanne , Bratislava , Vienna , Munich and Hamburg , to the national operas of Prague and Budapest and to several music stages in the former Soviet Union . The Kammersängerin has also made guest appearances in the USA with the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera, especially in operas by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss . In addition to her stage presence, she has performed nationally and internationally as a concert singer. In 1973 she received the National Prize of the GDR III. Art and literature class.
