Giuseppe Adami (playwright)

Giuseppe Adami (born November 4, 1878 in Verona , † October 12, 1946 in Milan ) was an Italian playwright , librettist , screenwriter and music critic .

Life

After completing his law studies at the University of Padua , Adami embarked on a literary career. His best-known works are the operatic libretti La rondine , Il tabarro and Turandot , which were set to music by Giacomo Puccini . Adami also worked for the speaking stage and the film. He reflected on his practical experience in the opera business in later years as a critic, a. a. for the magazines La sera (Milan) and La comedia (1931–34).
