Giuseppe Merisi (born September 25, 1938 in Treviglio ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus bishop of Lodi .

Life

Giuseppe Merisi was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Milan on February 27, 1971 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Milan and titular bishop of Drusiliana on September 8, 1995 . The Archbishop of Milan , Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini SJ , donated him episcopal ordination on November 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Renato Corti , Bishop of Novara , and Attilio Nicora , Old Bishop of Verona . As a motto he chose Vos autem amicos dixi .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Lodi on November 14, 2005, and he was instituted on December 17 of the same year.

On September 6, 2006, Giuseppe Merisi celebrated the Requiem for the late national soccer player and Inter- President Giacinto Facchetti , who like him came from Treviglio , in the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan .

On August 26, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
