René Hamel (cyclist)
René Nicolas Adrien Hamel (born October 14, 1902 in Paris ; † November 7, 1992 there ) was a French cyclist and Olympic champion .
At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , René Hamel won two medals: he won bronze in the individual time trial and gold in the team competition with Armand Blanchonnet and Georges Wambst . For the team classification, the times of the best three drivers of a national team from the individual race were added up. In the same year he was also French champion in the street race of amateurs . He started for the Vélo Club de Levallois .
In 1926 Hamel turned professional and competed twice in the Tour de France : in 1927 he gave up after the seventh stage, in 1928 he finished 32nd.
