Gladys Lengwe

Gladys Lengwe (born February 6, 1978 ) is a Zambian soccer referee .

Lengwe, who has been leading international matches since 2002, took part in the women's junior division in the 2014 Women's U-17 World Cup. She whistled a group game as well as the final between the teams of Nigeria and Cameroon at the 2014 African Cup of Nations . As a result, Lengwe took part in the Algarve Cup 2015 and was used there in two games. Alongside Thérèse Neguel and Lidya Tafesse Abebe , she was nominated as one of three African referees for the 2015 Women's World Cup , where she led the group game between Germany and the newcomer to the World Cup Thailand . In October 2017, she was one of seven referees on the supporting team of referees at the U-17 World Cup in 2017 , which was the first time women were used in a men's World Cup. She was used for the first time in the group game of the German team against Costa Rica as the fourth official.

In December 2018 she was nominated for the 2019 Women's World Cup in France .

Lengwe speaks fluent English in addition to her mother tongue, Bemba .
