history

As a branch church of the parish of St. Mauritius, Glashütte is never independent, but was initially always tied to the history of the parish of St. Mauritius until political independence was achieved. The name is the designation for the location of a glassworks , whereby there was an "old", the lower glassworks, and a "new", the upper glassworks, around whose location the two settlements arose.

Glashütte was first mentioned in a document in 1469. Eberhard von Hausen issued a handover letter for his wife Martha, née von Suntheim, in which Glashütte was named. A will from Veit Georg von und zu Hausen, which dates back to 1566, stipulates that every smelter in the new glassworks must supply both castles with glassware. 1585 was first written in the parish bar of the parish of St. Mauritius in Stetten am kalten Markt of "Hamlets of the old and the new glassworks".

Unter- and Oberglashütte belonged to the Hausen lordship . With its abolition, the places became part of Baden . From 1826 they belonged to the Baden district office in Stetten , which was transferred to the district office of Meßkirch in 1849 .

The "Steighöfe", a settlement that belonged to Neidingen , was politically assigned to Glashütte in 1932. The district of Meßkirch was dissolved in 1936 as part of an administrative reform ordered by the National Socialists and incorporated into the Stockach district.

In the course of the district reform in 1973 , the Stockach district was dissolved and the municipality of Glashütte (Baden) was assigned to the Sigmaringen district with effect from January 1, 1973. During the community reform , the previously independent community of Glashütte (Baden) was incorporated into Stetten am kalten Markt on January 1, 1975.
